John Clay at the Herald-Leader has an interesting look at Alex Meyer, the former Kentucky Bat Cat star now playing in Single A for the Hagerstown Suns. Last night, Meyer found himself playing in Lexington again, losing a 4-3 decision to the Lexington Legends.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]Meyer, a top 10 draft pick last year, has been rated as one of the brightest prospects in the farm system of the Washington Nationals. He told Clay that “it was great being back in Lexington”, but the reception wasn’t as friendly as he might have hoped. The crowd was friendly and the PA announcer talked up his UK connection, but the Legends shellacked him with three runs in the sixth inning. Still, Meyer was glad to be back and he is thrilled with the success his former team is having:

It’s a great time to be a fan of those guys and I’m more than happy for them…All three years I was there, it didn’t necessarily go the way we wanted it to, but we had the talent every single year. We’d go out and compete but then just fold at times and do things that weren’t baseball smart. This year, they’ve got a good group of veterans and leadership. They’re playing well. They deserve it.
