Former Wildcat Walter McCarty, a player on the 1996 championship team and more recently an assistant coach at Louisville under Rick Pitino, announced today that he was accepting a job as an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers. [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
“I am ecstatic about returning to my home state and to start working with the Pacers. I am anxious to work alongside Jim O’Brien and am very excited about the direction this franchise is headed.”
McCarty, and Indiana native, also played in the NBA for the Celtics, Clippers, Suns and Knicks. McCarty has been an assistant with the Cardinals since 2007.
