View from Section 137: The Night Before

Tomorrow is finally the day… The day Joker’s debut season gets off and running. Speaking of running, I think the running game is the key to the Cats beating down the Cards the way I think they will. Derrick Locke needs to back his swagger with a big game and run at will on the Cards 1st year defense under Charlie Strong and company. I know everyone is worried about Mike Hartline, but the running game could make everyone forget about that situation if we dominate the ground and the clock. It is always so defeating for an opposing defense if they can’t stop the run. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the team with the most rushing yards over the last 10 meetings of the Governor’s Cup has won the game. Mix that in with a good dose of Randall Cobb and an occasional downfield strike to Chris Matthews and I think we have a good recipe for a BlueGrass beatdown. I will say the Cats 28, Cards 13.

[*]Lafayette Freshman Jackson Davis, son of former Cat Johnathan Davis, will be trying out for the 16 under Olympic Team on October 2nd. You can check out a little background on Jackson from an earlier article on NOB.
[*]Chane Behanan’s visit to Louisville this weekend is an official visit. Seems like the Cards have jumped to the top of Behanan’s list, but I don’t expect him to commit anywhere this weekend.
[*]James Blackmon Jr, whose Dad played for Kentucky in the 80s, has committed to play for Indiana. The interesting note about Blackmon is he hasn’t played a second of high school basketball yet. He is a 2014 recruit.
[*]One UK basketball recruit to keep an eye on for 2011 is Trevor Lacey.
[*]I am really looking forward to the Kentucky football game tomorrow, but I am equally excited about the Reds playing in St. Louis this weekend. The Reds have an 8 game advantage on the Cards and it would be so nice to take 2 of 3 and put an end to two Cardinal teams in one weekend. Go Cats, and Go Reds!!
