View from Section 137: Pikeville, Derrick Locke, and Recruiting

After another weekend of disappointment on the football field, it is time to get into Rupp Arena and hopefully get to watch some success. I am looking forward to the Pikeville game Monday night as one of my very good friends Coach Kelly Wells will be on the sidelines again in Rupp Arena. We have a great interview with Coach Wells which will be on the Morning Drive tomorrow morning. Make sure you check it out. Getting back to the game, it should be an exciting atmosphere for the freshman as they finally get to play some outside competition with their entire team in tact, minus Enes of course. Pikeville will of course be charged up for the game, and as Louisville found out today vs. Northern Kentucky, it isn’t a good idea to overlook any in state team. I am sure the Cats will win going away, but I hope it is close for a little while so we can see our team play real minutes.

[*]Derrick Locke is still questionable for this weekend and Joker said he will evaluate him throughout the week. Derrick is quickly growing frustrated in not playing and is starting to take it out on fans who are following him on twitter. I understand him taking up for his quarterback, I do it all the time, but maybe there is a better way of handling things. Anyway, this team is missing Locke alot more than I thought they would. Locke’s career habit of getting hurt is hurting this team and the running game was non existent in Starkville. You know it is bad when CoShik Williams is put into the last drive of the game. Hurry back Derrick… I was wrong.. This team needs you!!
[*]Kyle Wiltjer has a good write up on ESPN Rise website. You can check it out here. Wiltjer has a great chance to be a legend at Kentucky, and I can’t wait till he gets here.
[*]According to Zagsblog.com, Perry Ellis is planning on cutting his list in early December. The 6-foot-8, 224-pound Perry said his list currently includes Memphis, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Texas A&M, North Carolina and Wichita State. He said he will cut it down to 5 or 7 at that time.
[*]I wonder what Chris Matthews did to get suspended for the 1st quarter. I guess if you get 1 game for DUI, it must have been public intoxication.
[*]Can any player as hyped as Terrence Jones was over the summer, be as underrated as he is going into this season? I am expecting big things from TJ.
[*]Should be interesting to see how Landon Slone takes everything in stride in his return to Rupp Arena. Slone only had 3 points in his debut for Pikeville vs. Temple Baptist.
[*]Nation of Blue will be in attendance again in Rupp Arena for the game. We will be live chatting and hopefully find a live feed. Didn’t have any luck for the Blue White Game, but maybe our luck will change. Go Cats!!
