West Virginia ends our season 73 – 66 and It will probably take me a week to get over this. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of post game coverage to come, but for now, here’s some of my initial thoughts..
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] [B]
John Wall [/B]- What a season! Many have downplayed his ability because he doesn’t come off with a dominant “Lebron James” type of impact. I think he’s more like Magic Johnson and he played exactly how this team needed him to play.
[B]
1-3-1 [/B]- Why do we have so much trouble with tricky zone defenses? I know we need to shoot the ball better, but some of Calipari’s remarks make me wonder if we practice against them.
[B]
Coaching[/B] – First of all, I love Calipari. But get ready for the criticism because of this loss. He’s a great coach for our program, but he might not be the greatest X’s and O’s coach we’ve ever had.
[B]Fans[/B] – Do you think the fans were waiting to travel to Indianapolis? We’ve all seen Big Blue Nation travel, and the turnout in the first two rounds seemed less than normal. I’m sure everyone is headed to the airport to welcome the team home (If you’re in Lexington, grab your coat and get in the car and go!)
[B]Three Point Shooting[/B] – 4-32 (12.5%) from 3 Point land tonight. We know this team can shoot the ball, but for some reason we have these games where this happens.
[B]
Free Throws[/B] – Didn’t we start the season as the best free throw shooting team in the conference? What happened? It’s like it was a disease that started spreading through the locker room picking up victims in each game.
[B]NBA[/B] – So how many do you think are going? Let’s see…. Cousins – Yes, Wall – Yes, Patterson – Yes, Bledsoe – Yes, Orton – No? Who knows! Do you think this loss will actually make everyone want to stay for another year? You know, they have some unfinished business to attend to.

This Year’s CATS[/B]! – What a year! Great Team and definitely one of the most entertaining seasons in a long time. NIT to the Elite 8… Not too shabby. I know it’s not a a championship, but it’s a huge leap in the right direction.
