USA vs. Egypt – Over Before it Started

Can anyone guess what 76-22 means? How about the half-time score of the USA vs. Egypt game in the U17 FIBA World Championships today. USA scored over 100 points before the end of the 3rd quarter as they entertained the crowd with tough defense and dunks and alley-oops on the offensive end. Don Showalter, U.S. head coach said “Egypt played really hard, and this game was as important to us as any other game. This morning we also had our best practice – I am proud of our guys.”

The head coach of the Egyptian team, Hesham Aboserea, said “The Americans played very well. We did not play at full power because we have another important game tomorrow.” For some reason, I don’t think that the beat down was only because they did not play at full power. Something tells be the beat down was coming either way.

Seven of the players on Team USA scored in double digits, with Bradley Beal and Michael Gichrist leading the way with 18 each. Kentucky commit Marquis Teague added 12 points. Team USA will face Serbia tomorrow.
