While coach Calipari has yet to earn a commitment from any member of the 2012 class four SF’s are heavily involved with the Wildcats. Here’s a closer look at those four guys.
Shabazz Muhummad- The crown jewel of the 2012 at any position, the #1 player in the country is built in a Mike Gilchrist mold. He is super talented and super competitive on both ends of the floor. I’m surprised we don’t hear this comparison more often, it will be an easy one to make if Shabazz comes to Kentucky.
Alex Poythress- A very talented player in his own right as well as an excellent student, Poythress has the likes of Duke and Vanderbilt after him as well, suggesting he plans on spending more than one year at the college level. He disappeared at times during the AAU Nationals but possess the kind of skill that few other players boast in this class.
T.J. Warren- There might not be a guy that plays with more desire than T.J. Warren. Every time he steps on the floor he is a threat to go off for 40. He can get to the rim and his improved three point shot has made him even more dangerous. In Orlando he said he really liked UK, still it will be interesting to see if Warren spurns home state schools N.C. State and UNC in favor of UK.
Devonta Pollard- If T.J. Warren plays with the most desire, Devonta Pollard plays with the most heart and is the toughest kid out there. Faced with tragedy his entire life, Pollard was homeless after the series of tornados that ravaged the south this past spring. Many thought that he might have committed to his home state Mississippi State Bulldogs with fellow AAU teammate Gavin Ware but that’s not the case. Alabama and Texas made it a point to be at all of his games while in Orlando and will be tough to beat out for the uber talented forward.
