UK Hoops Grinds Out Win Over Feisty Florida

It was a rare day in Memorial Coliseum for the UK women.

It wasn’t that they went 7-0 in the SEC for the first time in school history.

It wasn’t that Memorial Coliseum was sold out.

Something I hadn’t ever witnessed happened today.

A’dia Mathies didn’t play great.

Mathies only scored 2 points, but the rest of the team picked up the slack as Kentucky held off Florida 57-52.

Keyla Snowden led Kentucky with 11 points, going 9-12 from the free throw line. Kastine Evans had 10, 8 to begin to 2nd half, to keep the undefeated run in conference play alive.

Florida was rough and wouldn’t go away, led by Jordan Jones 14 points, as they dropped to 13-7 on the season and 3-4 in the SEC.

Kentucky’s Samarie Walker was huge throughout, showing more energy than any of her teammates at times, finished with 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The rest of the scoring for Kentucky: Henderson 8, Goss 6, Smith 5, Pinkett 3, Conwright 2, Bishop 1.

Kentucky is now 18-2 on the season and next plays Thursday at Auburn, gamtime at 7pm.
