When Randall Cobb’s cheesy biscuit story broke, I started to wonder how many UK fans truly thought like Audrey. Do you truly believe the CATS are on their way to being a premier team in the SEC?
This morning I woke up a confused UK fan. I’m not sure how I feel about last nights loss. I’m upset and frustrated, but am I taking this a too seriously? It is UK Football, but does that make it easier to look over? Is the UK Football fan base full of Audrey like personalities (non-believers)?
Will the fans be satisfied if we get six wins and barely make a bowl game? I will not be satisfied, but am I setting myself up for years of disappointment?
Should we expect more?
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]In case you missed all the Red Lobster drama last week, Audrey is the hostess at Red Lobster who asked Randall Cobb how much longer before the football team is back to it’s losing ways.
Many fans thought this was a horrible thing to say (especially to Randall Cobb), but how many of you are thinking the same thing?
We all love our CATS and we get excited leading into a big game, but do you truly believe this team can win? Do you truly believe that our Football team will win an SEC Championship some day?
When the CATS lost to Florida last night, how upset we’re you? You may have been disappointed, but did you say to yourself “yeah, that’s KY football”?
Are you a fan that truly believes we can win an SEC championship or do you just enjoy the ride because you have nothing better to do before basketball season?
Maybe we should do a better job defining what our goals are as a football team. Setting a goal and having everyone on the same page (coaches, players, and fans) has a way to leading you to where you want to go.
Everyone knows our goal for the basketball team. It’s simple.. WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
Now what about the football team?
If you ask ten different UK fans, I’m sure you’ll get at least three different answers. Is it just to make it to a bowl game? Is it playing in a new years eve bowl? Maybe the SEC championship?.. I’m really not sure.
It’s practically impossible to have “one heart beat” if everyone is unclear of what we’re going after.
If Calipari coaches at UK for five years and he’s still not won a championship, would you say he’s falling short of his goal? How would fans react?
If you think it’s OK to have lower expectations for the football team (compared to basketball), then Audrey’s comment makes perfect sense. It’s a comment that says, we’re doing good now, but we all know the wheels are getting ready to fall off so don’t get too upset when that happens.
Do you think that most UK Football fans believe we’ll never win an SEC championship?
Now take our survey and tell us what you believe the future of UK football will hold!
