[FONT=Tahoma]With a mere 23 days left until the first college football game of the 2011 season, it is time to really turn our focus towards our pigskin Cats. With a lot of question marks on this year’s team, along with some solid returning starters with the offensive line and Danny Trevathan, it is hard to truly predict how this season will turn out. [/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]What I’m buying:[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]1. Danny Trevathan – Trevathan is listed as someone to watch for so many awards and was voted pre-season first team SEC. He IS a force to be reckoned with.[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]2. Morgan Newton – I’m counting [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]Newton[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma] as a positive. He came in as a freshman and didn’t fold under pressure, which is huge when playing in the SEC. Only positive reports have come out about [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]Newton[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma] in the off season, as well as during this first week of camp. [/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]3. Experienced offensive line – Experience on the line is one of the most underrated aspects of the game. Having a new leader behind center and a relatively inexperienced receiving and running back core, the offensive line will be more than huge this year.[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]4. Tee Martin – The fact that Tee Martin passed up an [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]Alabama[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma] gig to stay here in the bluegrass and help build this programs speaks volume as to the change [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]Kentucky[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma] football is taking. If Tee’s selling it, I’m buying.[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]What I’m selling:[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]1. Receivers – In both the spring game and on fan day, one of the biggest issues seems to be the need for that sticky hand glue from the movie “Little Giants.” With LaRod King our only solid returnee, this group has a lot to prove. [/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma]2. Defense – You hate to label such an important aspect of the game as something to sell, but until I see the change on the field, I can’t buy the stock.[/FONT]
[FONT=Tahoma] 3. The ‘stache – We all love it but it’s got to go! [/FONT]
