UK Baseball’s NCAA Dreams Shattered in Georgia?

Kentucky entered a three-game series with Georgia this weekend hoping to roll into the SEC Tournament and earn a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

After an 8-6 opening day loss, the Cats were absolutely destroyed 20-0 last night at the hands of the Bulldogs.

At 12-17 in the SEC, the Cats are eliminated from the SEC Tournament and have little to no chance of earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

If they do miss the tournament, it will be a disappointing end to a rather odd season. UK managed to basically manhandle the likes of No. 4 South Carolina and No. 20 LSU late in the season, yet faltered at the hands of lowly Georgia (3-22 in the SEC before UK came to town), Lipscomb and Indiana.

Color us surprised if the Wildcats make an NCAA postseason appearance. The Wildcats entered the weekend in position to earn an SEC tournament berth and essentially punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament. However, the Wildcats dropped the series opener and were demolished 20-0 in Game 2 on Friday. With the loss, the Wildcats now have a 12-17 SEC record. That simply will not cut it.
