Larry Vaught is reporting that 2011 Kentucky recruit, trevor Lacey, will in take an unofficial visit and be in attendance this Saturday as Kentucky takes on South Carolina.
Lacey has long been one of the top two recruits left that most Kentucky fans think could end up at UK next season. Lacey, out of Hunstville, Alabama, had recently cut his list to Alabama, Auburn, Connecticut, kansas and Kentucky and according to Rivals.com, currently holds offers from all schools with the exception of Kansas.
As a 6-3 shooting guard, Lacey has a tremendous ability to score in multiple ways, showing his ability to knock down open and contested shots from the perimeter. Whether coming off screens, dribbling off ball-screens, or spotting up Lacey has a soft stroke with good range.
“I am looking forward to it,” said the Huntsville, Ala., standout.
Lacey said that he is no cloaser to a decision, even though the national signing period opens again in less then two months.
Lacey is coming to Kentucky mainly for two reasons — to see the campus and find out just how passionate UK basketball fans can be.
“I want to visit campus and see what campus life and the fans are like. I have heard Kentucky has the best fans in America. I want to be able to use my own judgment about that,” said Lacey.
He’s hoping to get to talk to Kentucky freshmen Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb, two players he already knows.
“They usually bring recruits into the locker room after the game. I went to camp with Doron, but I know Brandon the most. I also knew Eric (Bledsoe) and DeMarcus (Cousins) from last year. But I want to know what Brandon and Doron might say,” Lacey said.
“The atmosphere at the game could make an impact on my decision,” Lacey said. “I do want to go to school where basketball is important.
If his decision is based on the fan base alone, there will be no comparison. Wildcat fans have swayed recruits before. In a Michael Gilchrist interview, he said the fan base was the main reason he chose Kentucky.
