Wednesday afternoon, people flocked to S.R. Butler High School (Huntsville, Ala.) to witness one of the biggest signings in the history of Alabama High School Athletics: Trevor Lacey.
Lacey, with roughly one hundred people in attendance, officially signed his letter of intent and committed to Anthony Grant and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
“I just signed with the University of Alabama,” the 6’5″ shooting guard said with a huge smile on his face. Lacey also considered Kentucky, Auburn, and Alabama A&M. Yes, no Kansas hat was evident on the table of choices.
“I felt like it was home,” Lacey explained to the media after his signing. “I built a good relationship with the coaches and players.”
The two-time Mr. Alabama Basketball also said that Coach Grant posed the question, ‘If you have what you’re looking for at home, why leave?’
It looks like that was a huge decided factor for Lacey, as he said that he felt comfortable with his decision “about three days ago,” despite the reports that he was confused with his decision.
Lacey joins a great class at Alabama that will jump into the top ten, but they won’t surpass UK and its stellar class.
Congratulations to Trevor, and here is some good video that I got from the announcement for everyone to enjoy!
