Should Kentucky have called timeout? Was the shot by Knight the one we needed? The outcome of last night’s game in Gainesville makes me want to ask these questions.
Now of course, there will be some people that say, “If he made that shot no one would say anything.” Naw, really? The problem is Brandon Knight’s 25 footer didn’t go in.
Calling timeout before the second free throw by Parsons would have made sense. Parsons had already missed the first one, and icing him a little more surely wouldn’t have hurt. It also gives you time to draw up something for Lamb or Knight off some type of screen for the last shot.
Instead, Knight had to create something himself off the dribble and you know the rest.
The other option was to go inside to Terrence Jones for the tie. I am not too much of a fan of this option as Kentucky’s depth problem is a definite concern for overtime.
If a team has a chance to win the game with one shot, then I think you take it.
I am just wondering if we could have gotten something a little better.
What do you think? Should Cal have called timeout? Do you go for the tie or the win?
