The Rise and Fall of Corey Rogers

Earlier in the week, the Courier-Journal was reporting that Clark County’s Corey Rogers might be an option for UK, and was waiting to hear if he would be offered a scholarship. I started to say something at the time to the effect that I didn’t see it as anything but a very remote possibility. Corey Rogers plays TE/DE. UK is not only loaded at those positions this year, but they have already secured several more recruits at those positions for next year. I couldn’t see Corey Rogers receiving a scholarship offer unless he was willing to play, oh say, Linebacker. As Chris Fisher of 247 is reporting today, my reservations were not unfounded.

A local kid who does happen to play Linebacker (and in a 3-4 defense, possibly safety), is Josh Harris of Mason County. I’m not saying he’s going to get a scholarship offer, but I’d say his chances are good considering UK is… a little thin at safety right now. An improved defense would do wonders for Joker’s sophomore season.
