While Coach Cal has seemed to miss out on some of the 2012 targets I don’t think any one will hurt more than missing out on Brandon Ashley.

First off he’s a top five player in the class, a staple for Calipari classes at UK.
Secondly Uk spent time trying to get him to take a visit, time that could have been used on another player, say Kaleb?
Either way the Cats are solidly involved with #2 Mitch McGary and #1 Shabazz Muhammad, a guy that they will be in great shape for if Kyle Anderson and Savon Goodman go to UCLA as a package deal. Kentucky is no longer involved with either of the NJ Playaz teammates so them going to UCLA can only help UK’s chances of getting Shabazz.
Still Brandon Ashley would have brought a post presence to the team that hasn’t been seen since DeMarcus Cousins. Anthony Davis should bring that toughness to Lexington this year but I don’t think he will be on campus for more than a year.
Out of all of coach Cal’s targets Brandon might not have been the highest rated but he was certainly one of the most important.
