State Champion. Former Mr. Basketball. These are two things that are coveted in the state of Kentucky. Darius Miller has both. Darius could have so much more. The talent of Darius Miller is evident by the way he can shoot, the way he can drive to the basket, and the touch he has for a 6’9″ guard/forward. The thing that keeps perplexing me is why doesn’t he take over basketball games?
Coach Cal has said it. Even Billy Gillispie said it. Darius Miller dominates in practice. He is dunking, hitting shots, and basically owning practice day in and day out. For some reason this just doesn’t transfer into games. Is Darius Miller just a great practice player? Is he just another Josh Carrier? I think he is more than a Josh Carrier for sure, but with his talent level as high as I think it is the comparison does have legs.
Coach Cal has a decision to make in my opinion. When does he finally let Doron Lamb start over Darius? Maybe bringing Miller off the bench will light a fire under him and make him be more assertive. Yesterday’s 9 point 2 rebound 5 foul performance is just a shadow of what Darius Miller can do. I also think starting Lamb will make him more consistent in his play and give him more of a chance to get settled down and hit some shots.
What do you think? Do you expect more from Darius Miller? Would it be better to bring Miller off the bench and start Doron Lamb? I would love to hear the fan’s opinion in the comments.. Go Cats!
