Let’s start this post off by thanking those who have given of themselves for the freedom we all share within this great country. December 7, 1941, is a day I will never forget. For most of us, whether we were alive or not, it is a day burned in the history of this great country we all enjoy.
To those who have and currently are serving our country, and to those parents, wives, husbands and children who lost someone for this country, thank you.

The day in 120 seconds or something close…
Joker Phillips took no time at all to make his first post season Coaching changes as he officially released running backs coach Larry Brinson and secondary coach Chris Thurmond. Some had thought that Thurmond would be replaced last season. As of now, Phillips has two positions to fill. Find how to apply at UKAthletics.com.
Shortly after the official announcement of the release of Brinson and Thurmond, rumors swirled that there were two candidates for a new Co-Defensive coordinator position with the current Defensive Coordinator Steve Brown. The front runner is former Miami Hurricane Coach Randy Shannon. Shannon will fetch a tall order when it comes to salary and is probably a long shot, but inking Shannon would be a major statement for the program.

Nation of Blue unveiled their first ever Fans of the Day. A new post that we will randomly make available. This is the greatest fan base in College athletics, if not in all of sports. The passion is unquestioned, sometimes to a fault. We want to highlight some of what we all are a part of, the Big Blue Nation.
Coach Calipari, a smiling Coach Calipari, met with the press today. Two things tht stuck with me from his interview; ”A month from now is not what we’re going to look like” and “I like my team”. Cal said it several times before, expect some bumps early in the season. Good news, this team will continue to improve and the early season tough games should pay off as this young team moves further into the season.
Scout has released their revised Top 100 of the 2011 Basketball recruiting class. The big four for UK continue to challenge and hold the top spot. Davis – 1, Gilchrist – 4, Teague – 6 and Wiltjer – 22. Lockout… That’s right, we all want it, a lockout. This years team with next years recruits… WOW.. Cross your toes folks.
2012 stars Rodney Purvis and Ricardo Ledo will Attend Kentucky-Louisville Game on New Year’s Eve. Purvis, the number 2 player in the country and Ledo, the number 7 player, have standing offers from Louisville. Kentucky has offered Ricardo and a scholarship offer from Kentucky could come very soon for Rodney.
Notre Dame comes to Rupp North on Wednesday to take on the Cats. The talk is how the young Cats will hold up against five Seniors from ND. This game marks the first and potentially only time, we will see the Blue and White UK logo in the center of Freedom Hall. Game starts at 9:30 and is part of the Big East/SEC Invitational. Coach Pelphrey and his Hogs will play the first game of the evening against Seton Hall. I’ve got to believe Pelphrey will get his fair shot of pics of the UK in Freedom Hall. Live blog and live feed up for the game on N of B.
More Rodney Purvis news along with another top 10 player from the 2012 class, Shabazz Muhammad. These two have been rumored to want to play together in college and apparently are planning a trip to UK together…
Finally, the Cats will take on The University of Pittsburgh at the 2011 BBVA Compass Bowl down South in Birmingham, Alabama. UK will face a Pittsburgh team short of one head coach. The University of Pittsburgh announced today that Dave Wannstedt was released from the team. Sources indicated that offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti will coach the team in the bowl game. This could just be an excuse if UK takes care of Business and brings home a win.
All for now. Go Cats!!!
