The Big Red vs Kentucky by the Numbers

I have been thinking about how each team matches up with each other, but not team vs team. I want to look at all the other factors that really don’t effect the outcome of the game. I found an assortment of NCAA Tournament historical facts to show why Cornell doesn’t have a chance Thursday night.

The #1 seed, since 1985, is 16-0 vs a 12 seed.

Before this year’s tournament, Kentucky’s all time record in the NCAA tournament is 100-45. Cornell’s record was 0-6.

The SEC is 272-200 in the NCAA(pre-2010). The Ivy League’s all time record in the tournament is 38-76.

John Calipari’s record is 27-11 during March Madness. Who is Cornell’s coach again?

Kentucky as a #1 seed is 31-8. Cornell is 2-0 as a #12 seed.

When Kentucky is ranked higher than their opponents, their record is 84-24. Cornell’s record when ranked lower than their opponent is 2-4.

Kentucky, when seeded higher, is 54-13. Cornell is 2-3 when they are seeded lower than their opponent.

Kentucky’s record when playing on Thursday is 25-8. Cornell’s record is 0-1.

Kentucky, which plays in Cornell’s home state of New York, has a record of 8-5 when they play in an opponent’s home state in the NCAAs.
These are facts which will not factor in the matchup between the Big Red and the Wildcats in the least bit. I just really like these stats because it shows it would have to be an unreal display of basketball for Cornell to beat Kentucky. I said we would win by 14 earlier, but I think I have changed my mind. Cats by 22. Go Big Blue!!:cat:
