Terrence Jones came off the bench to break the Kentucky freshman scoring record and the No. 15 Wildcats blasted Auburn 78-54.
Jones was 11-17 from the field and 4-5 from the 3-point line. He also had 8 rebounds 3 steals and 2 blocks. Jones broke the UK freshman scoring record that was set earlier this season by teammate Doron Lamb.
Brandon Knight added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the Wildcats (13-3, 1-1 SEC). Darius Miller added 10 points. Lamb chipped in 8 points and 7 assists.
Auburn (7-9, 0-2 SEC) was led by Allen Payne’s 15 points and 5 rebounds. Kenny Gabriel scored 13 off the bench.
Kentucky opened the game on a 13-2 run and never looked back. There were no ties and no lead changes in the game.
John Calipari’s club was 29-57 (50.9%) from the field and 11-26 (42.3%) from long range. They dished out 18 assists on 29 made field goals.
UK returns to action on Saturday when they face LSU in Rupp Arena at 4:00 p.m.
