The other night in the Kentucky vs. Kansas game in NYC, our beloved Wildcats got off to a rough start. The young team appeared to be obviously rattled from the tip off and watched Kansas take a quick lead. Kentucky was only taking jump shots, turning the ball over left and right and defense was nowhere to be found. While watching this I kept saying, they need to put Miller in the game.
Sure enough, insert Darius Miller into the game, and the Cats storm back and take an 11-10 lead. When he came into the game, the team just seemed to flow better and the nerves seemed to disappear. I’m not claiming Miller is a stat stuffer, in fact there are times you may forget he is on the floor, but his presence and senior leadership amongst the team alone make a difference when he is on the court.
One thing Calipari’s teams over the last two years have lacked is experience….and now they finally have a true leader in Darius Miller. He is Kentucky born, he understands the passion of the big blue nation and nothing would be sweeter than sending him out with the 8th national championship. I am #TeamDarius until the end, because he is a difference maker among his teammates and “brothers” and that is what means the most!
