Stephen Zimmerman Wants to Hear from Kentucky

Despite Shabazz Muhammad picking UCLA over Kentucky, it is very possible that the staff could continue to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada in the future, particularly Bishop Gorman High School.

Stephen Zimmerman, a 6-foot-10 power forward, looks to shape up as one of the best overall players in the Class of 2015. With that being said, Kentucky could be involved.

“I would like to hear from Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina – once you’ve heard from them, you know all the hard work is paying off,” the rising sophomore explained.

While he has not heard from those three perennial powers, other impressive programs are showing interest, including rival Indiana.

“Recently, Indiana, Memphis, Tulsa, Missouri, and Tennessee have shown a lot of interest in me,” he noted. “I’m thankful for all the schools showing interest in me.”

Zimmerman currently holds eight offers, as UNLV, UCLA, Arizona, Kansas, Memphis, UConn, Oregon, and Oregon State have witnessed his game-play.

Dirk Nowitzki has become a very popular comparison for this lean shot-blocker, in part because of Zimmerman’s ability to shoot the ball from the outside. He is a vital part of his team because of his ability to stretch the defense.

With his ability to play on the outside, it is expected that UK will show interest in the future. Zimmerman explained what he likes about Kentucky in a previous interview:

“I like Kentucky. The coaches are great, and I like the style of play they have. It’s a nice program.”

If Kentucky does enter the picture, they will have to compete with hometown UNLV, along with UCLA, whom the Zimmerman family have a great relationship with at this point.
