Kentucky punter Ryan Tydlacka has been named a candidate for the 2010 Ray Guy Award. The Ray Guy Award is given annually to the nation’s best punter. Tydlacka is currently ranked third in the Southeastern Conference and 16th in the nation, averaging 45.4 yards per punt. Five-star OT Brandon Shell (2011) committed to South Carolina. The Charleston, SC native also had an offer from UK, but actually cut Kentucky from his list a few months ago and was only considering South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and Miami (FL). Under the “Seven Degrees to Football Royalty” heading, Shell is the great nephew of Hall of Famer Art Shell (an offensive tackle, and two-time former head coach of the Oakland Raiders). Three-star DE Jesse Hayes (2011) committed to Wisconsin. Hayes is a Cincinnati boy, and also under the “Seven Degrees to Football Royalty” heading, is the son of Cincinnati Bengals defensive line coach Jay Hayes. According to Scout, Hayes had a scholarship offer from UK. He was also considering Cincinnati, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, NC State, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Four-star QB Zeke Pike (2012) passed for 255 yards and 4 TDs in a win over Boone County. The Ft. Mitchell, KY native currently has an offer from UK (according to Scout), but is also considering Auburn, Boston College, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois, Florida, Georgia Tech, Iowa, North Carolina, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma St., Purdue, South Carolina, Toledo and Vanderbilt. Unranked TE Mitchell Henry (2011) caught 8 passes for 156 yards in a win over Bardstown. The 6’4 240 lb Elizabethtown KY native is also considering Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, NC State and Purdue. At this time, he does not hold an offer from Kentucky.
