When John Calipari is your head coach, having legendary figures in your locker room is something to be expected. Magic Johnson, Lebron James, Mike Tomlin, Drake, and now Larry Brown. This time it’s not just stopping by on game day, Coach Brown is actually staying at Calipari’s home during his visit.

Calipari spoke about Browns visit in his pre-game interview yesterday. Here’s an excerpt from a nice write up about Browns visit from kentucky.com…
Brown, who parted ways with the Charlotte Bobcats earlier this NBA season, is serving as another set of eyes “to maybe throw me some ideas we haven’t thought of,” Calipari said. “I just like he’s here. I like hanging around him. I’m more relaxed.”
UK center Josh Harrellson said Brown has been participating in practices.
“He’ll even stop drills like Coach Cal does and put his imput in,” Harrellson said. ‘It’s great having a legendary coach here buiding us and helping us out.”
Calipari said he invited players to seek advice from Brown about how to improve.
“Not a bad deal,” Calipari said. “He’s a Hall of Famer.”
Brown is the only coach to win the NCAA Tournament (Kansas, 1988) and an NBA championship (Detroit Pistons, 2004). Calipari’s first coaching job was as a graduate assistant for Brown at Kansas in the 1980s.
While in Lexington, Brown is staying at Calipari’s home.
“He’s coached thousands and thousands of games,” Calipari said. “He’s been in every situation. If there is a better coach in the world, I’d like to see him.”

It definitely seems that coaching this years team has been frustrating at times. I think that fact that Calipari mentioned being “more relaxed” when he’s around Coach Brown speaks to that.
After watching Tayhaun Prince and the Detroit Pistons upset the Lakers in the NBA finals, I quickly became a fan of Larry Brown. The Pistons that year played as a TEAM and won the NBA Championship. Something no one thought they could have done. Hmm…Sounds like this could be this years CATS?
Here is one of the most memorable moments from that years run through the playoffs and Coach Brown on David Letterman
