Basketball ticket prices and required donations are increasing for the upcoming basketball season. It’s really no surprise as football ticket prices increased this year as well. The new pricing structure is expected to generate an additional $3.5million in revenue and Mitch Barnhart say’s “the reality of todays world is pricing is going up.”[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Lower level tickets are increase to $680 for 17 games and upper level tickets will cost $595. That increase is only an average of $27.50 for the season. The more significant increase comes to those who typically donate $1,350 to the K-Fund. That donation will increase to $5,000 this season while the other levels are only small increases.
“We’re going to take this money and use it for our capital infrastructure,” Barnhart said. “That’s a big piece to this, the vast majority of this is going to the help us raise money for facility growth, which we need. If you look at our facilities and look around the league we are behind. We have got to go to work in the brick and mortar piece in the next four to five years.
“We don’t have to have the greatest house in the neighborhood but we have to be able to live in the neighborhood. The Southeastern Conference is a high-demand conference. We have to keep up with what’s in our league or we won’t be able to recruit young people to our program.”
