Shadrach Thornton, a running back from Liberty County HS (Hinesville, GA), has already named the Wildcats his pressumed leader. But for everyone else chasing, his recruitment is not on a timetable right now.
“I couldn’t say when I will make my decision.” Thornton began. “I don’t wanna make a quick decision and then decommit, because that looks bad on my character. I want to make sure I’m making the right decision.”
A good things the Wildcats have going for them is they’re “different than anyone else” according to Thornton.
“I really like Kentucky. They are just different than anyone else, and I have a real good connection with the staff. Coach Pardue already knows what I can do in person. I like that the staff really know the calliber of the team.”
Thornton loves being invincible with the ball. He expressed how he has a lot of power to compliment his speed as well.
“I’m explosive. I am very fast, I think i have great vision, the IQ of the game, the desire to win, and the heart.” Thornton said of himself.
He also mentioned what he wants the defenders to think when he has the ball.
“When I have the rock in my hand I feel like the defense is afraid. If you try to tackle me high, I’ll stiff arm you to ground. One man should not be able to bring me down.”
Gaining Thornton’s power would be tremendous for the offense. But, Thornton had some things he loved about the other schools that are still in the running for the three-star running back.
“I know North Carolina State has me #1 on their board for running back, and knowing that I can come in and start is a plus. But I know competition will occur everywhere.”
“Georgia Tech is a hard school to get in to. I know the coaching staff real well, and a lot of them show love towards me. I also like that a degree from them means endless possiblities.”
“For Vandy, I like that a degree from them can help me and my family be successful out of state.”
While a decision may not be near, he will take his official visits to Kentucky, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, and Georgia Tech.
Thornton expressed what it will really take to land the Liberty County star.
“I wanna go to a place where I get this home feeling. I want to be surrounded by good coaches, a place where they are serous about education, and a place where I can reach my peak.”
Along with Thornton, Kentucky is also trying to land another promising three-star from the peach state in Mike Hilton (Sandy Creek HS). Ethier one would be great, but to land both would help make the offensive improve tremendously.
