Shabazz Muhammad And Rodney Purvis: The Next Dynamic Duo?

Two of the top players of the Class of 2012 are discussing the possibility of spending their college careers playing together.

In Shabazz Muhammads most recent diary, he talks about the conversations between himself and Rodney Purvis. Rodney recently reclassified, moving from the 2013 Class to his original Class of 2012.

Purvis and Muhammad would be the steal of the 2012 Class. Here’s what Shabazz had to say about the possibility:

I definitely have been talking to my man Rodney Purvis (Upper Room Christian, NC) a lot about college and now that we’re in the same graduating class, we’ve been talking more and more about playing together in college. We talk about being a dynamic duo in college and how well we play off of each other. He can play the one or the two in college, so we just talk about sharing the backcourt. Rodney reminds me of a Dwyane Wade/John Wall type and that’s just crazy!

I know that a lot of people talk about going to school together and a lot of times it doesn’t happen, but I think it’s really likely for us. We’ve been talking a lot and texting all the time about it. We’re just trying to figure out what college would fit both of us and are recruiting us equally hard. We talk about schools like Memphis, Duke, Kentucky, Texas and UNLV. So we’re definitely looking at that option very seriously.

Both Muhammad and Purvis are high on UK’s list. Shabazz currently holds a scholarship offer from the Cats, Purvis is yet to be offered.

2K Sports/HighSchoolHoops.com ranks Shabazz Muhammad as the 8th best player and Rodney Purvis as the 11th best player, currently in High School. This is a list that includes all four of the members of the No 1 2011 Kentucky Recruiting Class.

The Top 50 ranks Gilchrist No. 3, Teague No. 4, Davis No. 9 and Wiltjer No. 23.

Shabazz and Rodney together would almost guarantee the top recruiting class of 2012. Ratings and rankings change, so there’s no guarantee that the two would produce the No. 1 class, but it’s hard to imagine anyone passing these two up as the season and the Summer progresses.

Will they stay the course and play together in college? That’s the million dollar question.

If they do and if Calipari wants his fourth No. 1 class in a row (we know he does), it seems the Dynamic Duo of Muhammad and Purvis is almost a must.
