Seven Minutes of Fame for Eloy Vargas

When was the last time you praised a player for 3 points, 1 block, and 1 rebound in seven minutes of playing time? Well if you are a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats (which I take it you are) then you probably had a sense of happiness yesterday after 7 huge minutes by Eloy Vargas in the Wildcat’s win over the Tennessee Volunteers.

Vargas is a player that has had the ability to make the fan base groan throughout the season. His lack of aggression and general lack of ability to convert into the player we’d hoped he would be has not left a good taste in mouths of the Big Blue Nation. But there is hope Wildcat fans. Eloy has arrived.

It’s not the seven minutes he played yesterday or even the minor stats he laid up, it’s the fact that he went out onto the court with the attitude that he was going to help a team in need. He wasn’t just a “place filler”, but he was someone I saw calling for the ball, fighting UT players for rebounds and FINALLY going to the rim hard and dunking the ball (HALLELUJAH!).

Yes, seven solid minutes…….couldn’t be happier and I’ll take it every game. Go Eloy, Go Cats!
