1. Time For Some Gator Tail: Saturday is the big day. The two top teams in the SEC, square off in the O’Connell Center as the Cats take on the University of Florida. John Calipari will join Billy Donovan on ESPN GameDay as the crew from ESPN comes to Gainesville. Kentucky has struggled on the road, especially in the SEC, but this is a must for the young Cats. Lose this one, and the Big Blue falls 2 1/2 games behind the Gators, a tough hole. Key: Brandon Knight…

2. Wanna Be: For Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke, one goal is forefront in their mind, moving from the “wanna be” phase of an NFL career to actually being drafted and making a NFL team. Step one has been achieved as both Locke and Cobb received official invites to the 201 NFL Draft combine which will be held in Indianapolis. About 300 players received invites including around 53 members from the SEC. Step one complete. Now, impress the scouts. Best of luck gentlemen.

3. Rondo To…: It was announced earlier today, that Kentuckys own Rajon Rondo was selected to the NBA All-Star team as a reserve. Derrick Rose was selected as the starting point guard for the Eastern Conference team, the problem is, most seem to think Rondo should start in place of Rose, I myself am one who believes he should. Reality is he should have been selected as the starter, not as a back up, which created the debate. Congrats Rajon…

4. Don’t You Mock Me: Draft Express, one of the top NBA Draft web sites, currently has three Cats listed in the first two rounds of their 2011 Mock NBA Draft. Kanter, Jones and Knight are all listed as potential first round draft choices. Kanter at number 6 spot, Jones at number 8 and Knight at 22. Doron Lamb was not listed in the first two rounds. There has ben speculation about Knight and if he would truly be a one and done. He could graduate in two years and an education i a high priority for Brandon and his family. Jerry Meyers of Rivals, doesn’t believe any of that, stating “I wouldn’t, however, get my hopes up Kentucky fans, since being projected as a first-round pick seems to be the threshold for coach John Calipari’s players.” I think UK has a super chance of hanging on to Brandon for one more year. The question then is what happens with Marquis Teague? Two number 1 point guards on the same roster… Coach Calipari wishes he had more problems like that…

5. See You In Court?: Enes Kanter has been ruled permanently ineligible to play at the University of Kentucky. Done, right? Wrong, at least potentially wrong. Timothy Epstein stated the following in an article released today. [I]”This is certainly difficult to swallow in light of the many NCAA athletes permitted to play despite willful violations by the athlete’s representatives or the athletes themselves, including Cam Newton at Auburn and Terrelle Pryor at Ohio State,” he said. “We are currently exploring potential legal action against the NCAA due in part to this disparate treatment.”
