Spring Football practice started today, and in an Alan Cutler interview with the coaching staff, it is pretty normal this early for guys to be a little rusty.

Morgan Newton, Mike Hartline and Ryan Mossakowski are, according to Joker, all in the hunt.
Day one of spring football isn’t normally pretty.
“We got to get more consistent in throwing the ball,” says Joker Phillips.
“Morgan didn’t have a good day. Mike had some good and bad throws and also Mossakowski had some good and bad throws.”
“I thought they did some good things, obviously there is a lot of rust,” says offensive coordinator Randy Sanders.
“It’s a lot like when Mike was out with the injury and he was trying to come back there was a lot of rust there. And the rust shows up in the decision making, but it’s more in the fundamentals. Getting yourself lined up, getting your momentum, feeling the rush around you, those type of things.”

Isn’t Mike Hartline like 32 years old? Wasn’t he Tim Couch’s backup? All jokes aside, I am excited about the most unknown QB of the 3 and that is Ryan Mossakowski.

The quarterback that you wanted to hear more about, because you just don’t know is Ryan Mossakowski. He never threw the ball well because of his shoulder surgery last season.
“Better today than he did last year at this time in the fall. It was a lot of balls going all over the place to.”

It should be an exciting spring as Joker learns more and more about his team. I hope the quarterback situation plays out a while and gives all 3 a chance with the 1st team to show what they can do. It wil be hard for the coaching staff to find equal time for each one to get a lot of reps. Each quarterback better show what they can do, especially Mossakowski, when they get the time in front of Phillips because one bad showing could mean a loss of playing time in the future.
