Russell Byrd Will Take A Second Look If Izzo Goes To The NBA

If Izzo leaves Michigan state then this scenario might be highly likely. Russell Byrd, an ESPN100 prospect ranked #20 among shooting guards before committing to MSU (or should I say committing to Tom Izzo?).

Kentucky made his top 3, and if he leaves would be highly likely to get him if we want him. Could this be the “one more” that Coach Cal wants?
Byrd’s interest lies in the fact that he is one of four Spartan recruits for the 2010-11 season who pledged their loyalty to Michigan State – and Izzo in particular.

“I’ll re-evaluate the situation,” Byrd said of Izzo’s possible departure. “I’ll see who calls and who (Michigan State) brings in (to replace Izzo). We’ll just kind of do (the recruiting process) all over again.”

The Blackhawk Christian graduate, who is rehabilitating a broken foot, said that when he committed to Michigan State two years ago, his top five college choices were MSU, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State and Kentucky. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything for now.

“I don’t know how many of those schools that I’d consider,” Byrd said. “We’ll just see who calls.”'
