Former Cat and current Celtic Rajon Rondo scored his 11th triple-double last night in a 105-103 win over the San Antonio Spurs. The full stat line includes 12 points, 10 rebounts, 22 assists, 6 steals and a block. Who gets 22 assists in a game? That’s just crazy.
Rondo is an incredible asset to the Celtics, even though he won’t be found in the NBA top 10 of scoring, 3-pointers or free-throws this season. Where is he ranked? Number 8 in assists-to-turnovers (averages 14-to-4.2) and number 1 in assists (averages 14 per game). That’s 3.5 more assists per game that Steve Nash. He averages more assists than most PGs have had in their best game.
Boston is now on a 3-game win streak at 27-7 overall (1st place in both their division and conference). Rondo and the Celts face Toronto Friday night at 7:00.
