In the first game of a twin-bill Kentucky held off Illiniois-Chicago 4-3 on a windy day at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Taylor Rogers ran his record to 3-0 as he pitched 5 innings, striking out 10, and only surrendering 2 runs. The combination of Wijas, Peterson, and Gott were stellar in relief with a combined 3 innings, 1 earned run, 3 hits, and 4 strikeouts.
Kentucky was led at the plate by hot hitting Luke Maile who finished 1-4 and 1 RBI. AJ Reed also had a RBI going 1-4 with a run scored.
The win keeps Kentucky undefeated on the season with a 9-0 record.
