Ricardo Ledo is Keeping His Options Open

Last week when Ricardo Ledo (Class of 2012, Notre Dame Prep, Mass.) announced that he would be decommitting from Providence, it was not a surprise to many.

However, the timing of his commitment stunned everyone. Ledo was supposed to visit both Kentucky and Louisville the next week.

It was just a matter of when he would reopen his recruitment, rather than if he would.

Now, he is back on the market and weighing all his other options, as he explained.

“I’m just looking at a lot of schools right now. I want to keep it open.”

Prior to his commitment to the Friars, Ledo included Providence, Louisville, Kentucky, and UConn as his top teams, and others, like UCLA, Texas, Syracuse, Texas, and Kansas were in the mix.

While many have said that Providence is still Ledo’s top team (I would not doubt it), he told me, “I have no favorites right now,” and I found that very interesting, at least compared to what he has told others.

Then again, that could be their own opinions at this point.

Ledo did tell ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein this:
”PC is still my number one school but the thing is that I’ve never really gotten to see what any other school had to offer. I’ve never been anywhere else.”
I also inquired to see if there were any other reasons he decided to decommit.

But Ledo denies any other reason he opened his recruiting back up. “It’s nothing else. I just want to weigh my options.”

Like I said, Ledo was scheduled to visit Kentucky and Louisville just days after his Providence commitment.

So, does he have anything lined up yet?

“Nah, I don’t have any plans for visits yet… I am hearing from a lot of coaches right now, though.”

He also added, “Kentucky has been calling.”

Despite offering both Shabazz Muhammad and Archie Goodwin, Coach Cal and Kentucky are still interested in getting Ledo.

There is a mutual feel for both parties at this point.

“I like the atmosphere. I really like Coach Calipari and Coach Orlando, too. They can get you to the next level.”

Just wait till he gets to witness the greatness of Rupp Arena and the city of Lexington. I think his opinion will be described differently next time.

Ledo has also recently transferred to a new school, Notre Dame Prep.

He now joins one of the top big men in the Class of 2011 and friend, Khem Birch.

“(Notre Dame Prep) is treating me well. I haven’t got much time right now, but it’s all good.”

Sounds like he’s enjoying his new school and team.

Could his next team possibly be the Kentucky Wildcats?

It’s a possibility, and it is obvious that Kentucky is interested in Ledo, and vice-versa.

Time will tell.
