November 25, 2009 the Kentucky Wildcats faced the Stanford Cardinals in Cancun, Mexico as they went head to head to win the championship game. Stanford was led by senior guard, Landry Fields and sophomore guard Jeremy Green who scored a combined 41 points. With 28 seconds left in the game, Ramon Harris fouled Fields and faced a 1-and-1 situation with the game tied at 61. He hit both shots to take the lead leaving Kentucky with a must score possession to end the game. With that possession, John Wall drew a blocking call and made both of his free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
In overtime, the game remained close. With 33 second remaining Eric Bledsoe made a 3-pointer to give the Wildcats a 69-65 lead that they would not lose. Stanford did not hit a field goal in overtime and John Wall finished the game with a dunk at the buzzer to and Kentucky won 73-65.
