Refuse to Lose Rewind: Miami (OH) vs. Kentucky 11-16-2009

On November 16, 2009 the Kentucky Wildcats were playing their second game of the season against the Miami Ohio Redhawks. This was the first regular season game for John Wall, who generated lasting memory for fans. The Wildcats were ranked #5 in the polls and had stirred a lot of media attention with the number of top recruits that 1st year Kentucky Coach John Calipari had signed.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

During their 2nd game, the Wildcats found themselves in an 18 point deficit with 7:01 left in the first half. The score was 36 to 18 when the Wildcats went on a 19-3 run to end the half only 3 down at 39-36. The Redhawks retained a small lead for the first 12 minutes of the second half and for the last 8 minutes, the game remained close. With 6 seconds left in the game, the Redhawks made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 70. Calipari considered calling a timeout however the inbound pass was made to John Wall who ran down the court, pulled up from 15 feet and made a last second shot to move Kentucky ahead and take the win 72-70.
