The Wildcats, who sit at 4-3 (1-3) on the season, have some big time players making big time plays and having huge games. They have been recognized throughout the year being named SEC Defensive and Offensive players of the week and other weekly honors that circle college football. Junior wide receiver Randall Cobb and junior linebacker Danny Trevathan have been named to midseason All-America teams by Phil Steele’s College Football and CollegeFootballNews.com, while Cobb, Trevathan, senior tailback Derrick Locke, senior quarterback Mike Hartline, senior wide receiver Chris Matthews and sophomore offensive lineman Larry Warford are on the midseason All-Southeastern Conference team selected by Steele.

Cobb and Trevathan headline the honors for Kentucky, with Cobb being named first-team midseason All-America by CFN and second team All-America by Steele. Trevathan is second-team midseason All-America by CFN and fourth-team All-America by Steele.

Cobb leads the Wildcats in receiving this season with 40 catches for 446 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns, passed for three touchdowns and returned a punt for a TD. The native of Alcoa, Tenn., has broken the UK career record for touchdowns with 33, getting the record-breaker in spectacular fashion – the game-winning 24-yard TD catch last Saturday with only 1:15 remaining against South Carolina.

Trevathan is putting up impressive numbers for Kentucky this year at linebacker. The native of Leesburg, Fla., leads the Southeastern Conference in tackles with 70 and leads UK in tackles-for-loss with nine. The junior also has one sack, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles on the year. Trevathan has led UK in tackling six of its seven games this season, including a career high 17 tackles against Auburn.

Cobb and Trevathan were also named midseason first-team All-SEC along with Locke. Warford was named to the second team as an offensive guard, while Cobb is a second team punt returner. Hartline and Matthews are on the third team.
