Questionable recruiting practices by Kansas? Noooooo…

This is awesome. Forgive me if you happen to be a Kansas fan reading this, but I’m just so tickled that there is some bad press about somebody’s recruiting practices and it’s not Kentucky. An article surfaced yesterday regarding the recruitment of 2011 SF DeAndre Daniels. You may remember that Daniels has been decidedly undecided for some time now, but speculation held that he was choosing between Kansas, Oregon, Texas and Kentucky. Kentucky was said to have withdrawn its offer a while back, and Daniels had already committed and de-committed from Texas, so I guess most people saw this as a two-school race (Kansas & Oregon).

In the above article, it states that Kansas has extended a walk-on opportunity to one of Daniels’ prep school teammates: Christian Garrett. Garrett has accepted and is expected to be on campus this fall. If you read the comments, there are jabs from several Kansas rivals (I did not see any from Kentucky) disparaging the move. Evidently the readers believe this is akin to hiring a recruit’s coach or family member in an attempt to lure him to your school. Surely not… not at Kansas…

While I’m not going to lose any sleep over this particular recruit (yes, he is very good, but as stated above Kentucky had already withdrawn his offer), I AM going to revel for a moment in the richness of taint on Kansas recruiting. Ahhhhhh….
