Portland Pilots: Things You Want To Know

As the Cats play their first road game of the young season, it’s always important to know your opponent, or at least something about your opponent.

Friday, it’s the Portland Pilots. A group of high flying young men who have nothing to lose and everything to gain against the Cats. Beat UK and the Coach gets a raise, the school sells 48 more season tickets and John Calipari would say he told us so…

So why Portland? What does Kentucky possibly have to gain? Terrence Jones and Terrence Jones… This is a homecoming for Jones and as he said in his pre-Portland interview, he doesn’t know how many he will have in the stands, but it will be a lot.

Here are some things you might, or might not, want to know about Kentucky’s next opponent:

Portland has yet to defeat Kentucky in basketball. Of course Portland has yet to play Kentucky in basketball. this will be a first, for both teams.

What does that tell us? Smart kids go to both schools, but the smartest kids go to UK. Why? Cost, of course….

If you’re taking the family on a cross country tour, leave early as it will take you 35 hours and 32 minutes of non-stop driving. [URL=”http://mapq.st/h/10-i1X8kwl9″]Total mileage is 2,389.62[/URL] miles and you will travel through 10 total states, including Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho and eventually Oregon. Or you could fly and get there in about 7 hours.
