Sources are reporting this morning that Daniel Orton is going to the NBA’s Developmental League. We knew this was coming, as reported here back in October, but it’s now official. Orton hasn’t played a game yet this season, and only averaged 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in the summer league (averaging only 15% from the field).
Orton will use the Magic’s D-League affiliate New Mexico Thunderbirds to improve on his offense and conditioning. Although his perpetual knee injury has been a big issue in regards to playing time, NBAfanhouse is reporting that Orton’s conditioning has always been a question. Let’s hope Daniel can get what he needs in the D-League and get back to Orlando next year.
