Ryan Clark writes on his Big Bluegrass Blog that there is only one answer for Kentucky right now at the quarterback position: Randall Cobb.

Clark says it would be a storybook ending to Cobb’s UK career (he’s almost certain to leave for the NFL).

So? Who do you think? This may come as a surprise, but I’m not going with Newton. Newton may be a fine QB, and if so he will have 2 full years to show us. But he hasn’t played in a long while, and I want to beat Pitt and feel good about this season. It feels like a job for Superman, doesn’t it?
Luckily, Superman is on the UK roster. Randall Cobb will in all likelihood be playing his last game at Kentucky. Personally, I want the ball in his hands as much as possible. I want him running the Wildcat, but also dropping back and throwing passes. Between Chris Matthews, LaRod King, the tight ends and Derrick Locke out of the backfield, I think the receiving corps can survive without Cobb.
Think about it – it’s a storybook ending to what could be the greatest career in UK football history. And what better way to go out? By subbing in at quarterback, leading his team to victory in a bowl and being carried off the field on the players’ shoulders.

My Thoughts: You know…after thinking about it…I’m also on the Cobb at QB bandwagon. I would rather have Cobb back there for the BBVA Compass Bowl, as well. Not only do I feel that Cobb is our best athlete and best option, but I also feel that it would generate some much needed excitement as the Wildcats close down what has largely been a disappointing season.
Joker Phillips and the Kentucky program could use a little boost of fan energy and excitement and there’s only so much that can be done with a 6-6 team.
Give Randall the ball!
