Nation of Blue

Basketball

Not Even Close!!

“They had it before you, they had it during you, they’ll have it when you’re gone,” Al McGuire.

Coach McGuire was obviously talking about the University of Kentucky men’s basketball program, but it could be just as applicable when it applied to the Big Blue Nation. As a fan of the University of Kentucky, passion runs deep for our Wildcats.

The message boards are dominated with Cat fans. The education of the game of basketball is second to no other fan base in the nation. The desire to see our Cats on the floor is apparent as the Nation travels, no matter the location. Hawaii, Alaska, Portland, where the Cats go, so goes the Nation.

It’s like Coach Calipari said after visiting 2012 recruit Archie Goodwin at Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood, Arkansas… “Wherever I go recruiting, the Big Blue Nation is at the gym I go to – they’re always there, no matter where the gym is!!”

The Media Audit confirmed what the fan base already knows, “it’s Not Even Close!!”

Here’s what they had to say about the results of their recent poll:
A new poll reveals that adults living in Lexington, Kentucky, are among the nation’s top collegiate basketball fans. According to the report, 76.3% of adults in Lexington regularly follow college basketball on radio or TV. Lexington is home to the University of Kentucky Division I Wildcats.

Louisville, Kentucky, ranks second in the national survey, with 70.6% who regularly follow college basketball.
So, there you have it. More proof that you can share with those Dirty Birds or Jayhawk fanbases when they try to claim our rightful place on top as the most passionate fanbase in the nation…

Go Cats!!!
