Yes, I know this has nothing to do with Kentucky, but every time you get to poke fun at a Dukie, why miss the chance??? Now I have always tolerated Nolan Smith (okay, I like him as a player), but when I saw this tweet from Jeff Goodman Wednesday night, I was very interested:
Nolan Smith (@Ndotsmitty) gets ejected for the first time in his career tonight – and it came as a coach – http://bit.ly/pyBdgT
Smith also had this to say:
“It felt good,” the usually mild-mannered Smith said just minutes after the game. “Coaching and playing is totally different. I was frustrated with the team not playing hard and not playing with energy. I knew my team would respond in the right way.”
“Refs were missing some obvious calls,” Smith added. “And my kids needed some fire in them.”
So a few choice words came out of Smith’s mouth and the next thing he knew he was history.
“We were down 19 when I did it,” Smith said. “And we came back and lost by 2.”
While I want to say the reason for them losing was because of the coach, I know good and well Smith is a very talented player. Then again, the best players aren’t always the best coaches.
I guess there is a first time for everything, but about time a Duke player gets ejected! Kyle Singler, you’re next!
