Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, hold your horses there quick draw McGee (Rick Pitino). Peyton Siva, the one and only point guard who we ALL know is better than John Wall right? Well, he is NOT ready for the NBA just yet.
Recently our favorite ex-coach, Rick Pitino, made one of his glorious comments that just make you giggle, hinting that he would be surprised if his point guard returned after his junior season. To translate, he basically is alluding to the fact he believes Peyton Siva will be heading to the league after next season.
Pitino is a master at head games, or at least he pretends to be. He likes to make statements, and then what happens next, those statements end up becoming true. Now do I think that Siva will be playing in the NBA in a year from now, NO. Do I think he’ll still be on the UL basketball squad….NO. (Maybe play overseas? Yes)
What really was the topper to this glorious comment cake that Pitino has baked for us is Siva’s response. Rick Bozich of the Louisville Courier Journal wrote an article earlier this week about Siva and his plans for next season.
Siva stated that before he can even think about going to the NBA, he’d like to win an NCAA game first. Wait a minute, what was that he said?

Wow, think about that, since Siva has been there the last two years, the Cards have failed to make it out of the first round. Rick Pitino, who will go down as one of the greatest coaches in college basketball, so why can’t he beat the Morehead States of the world?
Regardless, I had to chuckle just a tad after reading about how Siva just wants to win in the NCAA tourney first before heading off to the NBA, I’d say stick with that plan Peyton. ;)
Do you think Siva would get drafted next year, and if so…where in the draft do you think he would go?
