No. 10 Kentucky Falls To No. 25 Arkansas

For the second time in three days, Kentucky faced a top 25 opponent on the road, and for the second time in three days, UK came up on the short end losing to No. 25 Arkansas, 78-67.

Fayetteville is located in the beautiful Ozark mountains, but it wasn’t the higher altitude that created a problem for the Cats, it was a strong defensive effort by the Razorbacks, holding Kentucky to only 28.4% from the field and 26.7% from behind the arc.

Kentucky was really never in the game as they looked tired from the tip and wore as the game progressed.

“We didn’t go hard last night, we didn’t go hard yesterday, we didn’t go hard tonight,” Mitchell said. “I was so disappointed with effort tonight, that it was so poor.”

The vaunted full court press wasn’t consistently available due to the poor shooting woes and that was the Hogs plan from the beginning.

“We took them out of their game. If they can’t press, they can’t score and if they can’t score, they can’t press,” said Coach Tom Collen

Victoria Dunlap was the Kentucky show. She carried the Cats on her back with her third double-double of the season and her twenty-fifth during her career, accounting for 26 points and 13 rebounds.

The Cats started the second half on a 7-2 run, closing the gap to only 3 at the 18:30 mark, but could never draw any closer as Arkansas led by as much as 18 at the 7:34 mark before UK closed it to 9.

“We had a tough 20 minute effort over at Duke and three pretty, pretty pitiful efforts on the other parts of the halves there, so this road trip wasn’t very successful,” said Coach Mitchell. “It was a thorough beating by Arkansas. They were the better team tonight, no doubt about it” [LEFT]
Kentucky has their SEC Home opener as they welcome Georgia to Memorial Coliseum this Sunday. Tip time is set for 2:00 PM and will be televised on ESPNU and, as always, Nation of Blue will do it’s best to have a live feed.[COLOR=#000000]
