Nation of Blue Becoming the Armed Forces Network

The Big Blue Breakdown had David Hull, who is stationed in Iraq, as our guest on the last episode. On that episode, I said that the UT Vols would beat the Cats by 14. Now of course, Anthony gave me a hard time and gave my email so the fans could give me a hard time. I check my email yesterday and had received an email from Sgt Joshua Roar who is stationed in Afghanistan. He wrote the following letter.

Mr. Anderson,
I am currently deployed to Afghanistan with the Kentucky Agribusiness Development Team 2, with the Kentucky Army National Guard. This is my second tour to Afghanistan in 3 years. I went in ’08-’09 with the 201st Engineer Battalion out of Ashland, Ky. I am, along with most the guys I’m deployed with, huge UK fans. I download ‘The Morning Drive’ and ‘Nation of Blue – Big Blue Breakdown’ as podcasts on iTunes and listen to them every chance I get. It was very hard to keep up to date with UK sports last deployment, but you and Mr. Vicars have given me a little piece of home every time I listen to ya’ll talk UK sports. I am deployed with a couple Louisville fans but I think they are starting to see the light and they are slowly being converted to the Big Blue Nation. And last time we went out on a convoy, I saw the Taliban were wearing UofL hats and shirts. Pitino has stooped ever so low recruiting Taliban for fans. Haha. I just wanted to send you a picture of the KY ADT II Security Force and let you know spirits are still high for Cal’s Cats this season even though the NCAA made Enes ineligible. Oh, you could have made a more bold prediction for the UK/UT game, but I won’t hold that against you.
We don’t come home for good until late-April, but we would like to put in a request if you could pass it along for us:
All we want for Thanksgiving/Christmas is a Tennessee Slaughter and a Bowl Win
All we want for a coming home present is a 8th National Championship
And we all just want a lifetime supply of Ale8One and Grippo’s
Haha.
Looking forward to each new article and podcast,
Sgt. Roar, Joshua

After reading this letter, I basically had tears in my eyes. I can’t tell you how much it means to me that so much of our military listens to our podcasts and checks out the site on a daily basis. I appreciate all of the love and we will keep doing the best we can to keep all of the Big Blue Nation informed on what is happening on a daily basis. If there is any other military out there that is listening or reading keep up the good work and tell us where you are and we will give you a shout out as much as possible. Go Cats!!
