Welcome to Perry’s fourth edition of his Nation of Blue Player Diary!

In this edition, Perry talks about his state championship run, who he will be playing AAU for, his Spring Break, and resolving some issues regarding a couple of teams on his list.

Enjoy!

Hey guys!
Since I wrote last, we were just heading into state quarterfinals. Well, we have won 44 games in a row, which broke the 1994 Kansas 6A record. We went undefeated this season, which hadn’t been accomplished at Wichita Heights since 1977 when they went 23-0. That team included McDonald’s Americans Darnell Valentine and Antoine Carr.

We have won the Kansas 6A state title now three years in a row. It was very special to win it again this year. The pressure was sure on us and everyone played their best to try and beat us. It was a great team effort.

When I was a freshman I had set several goals. One was to go undefeated. My freshman year we were 24-1, my sophomore year we were 23-2 and then my junior year we did it, going 25-0.

My other goal was to win State all four years; well, I only have one more left to go. Hopefully my two younger brothers can help me reach this goal next season.

After winning state, I took a week off from training and practice but still went outside daily to shoot, so I really didn’t take off. Now I am getting ready for spring and summer ball. I play on the Kansas Pray and Play Players AAU team. We play in our first local tournament “MAYB Winter Finale” this weekend. I leave for Houston on April 1[SUP]st[/SUP] for the All American Championship game on the 3rd.

This week I am on Spring break, so besides working on my game, playing X-box live, and watching March Madness on TV, I am also volunteering. I am on the National Honor Society at my high school and we are required to have so many hours of community service. I am helping out at the Wichita Children’s Home since I don’t have classes this week.

A lot of people are asking me if I am going to change my list since Jeff Capel is no longer at the University of Oklahoma. I have also been asked what if Gregg Marshall leaves Wichita State. At this time, I am not making any changes, just waiting to see what all plays out. I am not in any hurry to make any changes at this time. I will evaluate this again later.

See ya!

Thanks Perry! Have something you would like to ask Perry?
