NBA of the Day 4-12-2011

We all wanted to see Rajon Rondo vs. John Wall, but alas it was not meant to be last night. The Wizards defeated the Celtics 95-94, but they took an overtime to do it and Boston didn’t even play the starters. Doc Rivers was resting his starters so Rondo didn’t even play.

John Wall earned Player of the Game kudos in the win, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double. Wall had 24 points on 5 of 17 from the field and 14 of 15 from the line. He also brought in 9 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block in 46:27 of play.

Nazr Mohammed helped Oklahoma City get the win over DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings 120-112. Mohammed played over 17 minutes and tallied 10 points on 100% shooting (5 of 5 from the field). He got 5 rebounds, but was only one foul shy of fouling out.

DeMarcus Cousins was Player of the Game again for the Kings, but like Wall was one rebound shy of a double-double. He played for 34:45 and got 30 points on 6 of 13 shooting (18 of 21 from the charity stripe). Cousins finished out his stat line with 9 rebounds, 3 steals, an assist and a block.

Tayshaun Prince had an off night as Detroit falls to Cleveland 110-101. Prince shot 3 of 6 for 6 points overall, and had 4 assists, a rebound and a block in 20:15 of play.

Chuck Hayes and Patrick Patterson had pretty average nights as Houston lost to Dallas 98-91. Hayes had 10 points on 5 of 12 shooting. He played for over 41 minutes and finished with a double-double on 12 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a block.

Patrick Patterson started for Houston, and shot 3 of 8 from the field (2 of 3 from the line) for 8 points total. He pulled down 5 rebounds and an assist in just under 30 minutes.

Miami beat Atlanta 98-90, but Jamaal Magloire did not play.

Jodie Meeks and Philadelphia got the win over Daniel Orton’s Magic, 95-85. Meeks played for nearly 28 minutes, but got only 7 points on 3 of 8 shooting (1 of 5 from downtown). He also had 3 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist, but finished with an abysmal -23 over/under (which is bad when your team only loses by 10).

Daniel Orton did not play in the loss.
