NBA of the Day 03-24-2011

Rajon Rondo slipped back into his scoring funk, putting up only 6 points in the Celtics 90-87 loss to Memphis. He shot only 2 of 12 (17%), but got a double-double with 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 steals. I wonder if Rondo is having chemistry problems with the new lineup since the trades.

Nazr Mohammed scored in double digits for Oklahoma City in their win over Utah, 106-94. He nailed 5 of 8 shooting, adding 4 rebounds in 16:48 of play.

Tayshaun Prince and Detroit lost 100-94 to Jamaal Magloire and Miami. Prince went 5 of 12 from the field and 2 of 3 from the line for 13 points total. He added 5 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal in nearly 40 minutes.

Jamaal Magloire played 11:14 and didn’t score a single point. Granted, when you’re on the same team as 3 mega-superstars, your production is probably going to suffer. Magloire did get a rebound and an assist.

Chuck Hayes and Patrick Patterson lifted Houston to a 131-112 win over Golden State. 131 points? In regulation? That’s just crazy talk. Hayes nabbed an elusive triple-double with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in 38:13 of play. The Chuck-Wagon shot 5 of 11 from the field and 3 of 7 from the line, adding 2 steals just for spite.

Patrick Patterson came off the bench for 8 points on 3 of 8 shooting (made both of his free throw attempts). He pulled down 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in a respectable 23:48 of play.

Orlando beat New York 111-99, but Daniel Orton did not play.

Jodie Meeks helped Philadelphia defeat Atlanta 105-100. Meeks shot 5 of 6, all from long range for 15 points total. He finished his stat line with 3 rebounds and an assist.

DeMarcus Cousins didn’t leave a game early, YAY! The Kings won, YAY! Sacramento beat Milwaukee 97-90 behind Cousins’ 13 points and 28:08 of play. He shot 6 of 11 (55%) from the field and 1 of 2 from the line, nabbing 9 rebounds, 3 assists, a block and a steal.

Eric Bledsoe and John Wall had another barn-burner, which is pretty much expected now anytime these two former teammates face off against each other. This time, the Clippers beat the Wizards 127-119, but it took two overtimes to do it. Bledsoe’s team did better, but Bledsoe himself had an awful game. He played less than 12 minutes and scored no points. He got 2 assists and a steal, but finished with a -9 over/under (which is really bad when your team wins by 8).

John Wall on the other hand, got Player of the Game for the Wizards. He scored 32 points on 12 of 26 shooting (8 of 11 free throws). Wall played over 51 minutes and finished a double-double with 10 assists, 5 rebounds, a steal and a block.
