NBA of the Day 03-03-2011

Rajon Rondo led Boston to a win over Phoenix, 115-103. Rondo shot 6 of 8 from the field and 4 of 7 from the line for 16 points overall. He finished his double-double with 15 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and a block in 39:05 of play. Rondo achieved a remarkable +26 over/under.

Nazr Mohammed started for his new team (Oklahoma City) and won handily over Indiana, 113-89. Mohammed was 3 of 7 shooting, making both of his free throw attempts for 8 points total. He finished out his stat line with 7 rebounds and a steal in almost 22 minutes of play.

Keith Bogans had a decent night even though his Bulls dropped a low-scoring battle to Atlanta, 83-80. Bogans shot 100% in his 18:34 of play, making all 3 of his attempts from the field (2 from long range) for 8 points on the evening. The Players of the Game for both teams were former Florida players whose names I won’t mention because it physically hurts me to do so.

Tayshaun Prince is still out with an ailing SI joint, but his Pistons lost to Minnesota 116-105.

Chuck Hayes and Patrick Patterson couldn’t lift Houston past Eric Bledsoe and the Clippers, but none of these former Cats had more than 2 points in the game. Hayes had 2 points total on 1 of 5 shooting (missed both of his free throw attempts). He did nab 12 rebounds and 3 assists in 25:21 of play.

Patrick Patterson also had 2 points total on 1 of 3 shooting. His only other stat was a lone rebound in 9:25 of play.

Eric Bledsoe finished scoreless on 0 of 1 shooting. Granted, he played less than 8 minutes, but in those 8 minutes his only stats were 1 assist, 1 turnover and 1 foul for a -11 over/under (ouch).

DeMarcus Cousins earned Player of the Game kudos off the bench for his effort in the 107-102 loss to Portland. Cousins finished with 28 points on 10 of 17 shooting (8 of 10 free throws). He had another double-double with 11 rebounds, 4 assists and a block, and was 1 foul shy of fouling out.

John Wall and the Wizards lost again, this time to Golden State by a score of 106-102. For his part, Wall shot 5 of 10 from the field and 4 of 5 from the line for 14 points total. He also added 6 assists and a steal, and like Cousins was 1 foul shy of fouling out.
